Gemlik is Turkiye's most recognized olive variety. This also means most Gemlik olive oil on the market is nothing special. The exception sits in the Phaselis Premium range. The olives are hand harvested while green. The press runs at 23°C. The oil stays unfiltered. Premium Gemlik Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil is Gemlik treated with the same rigor our Rabbit Heart and Memecik olive oil lines receive.
What Makes This Gemlik Olive Oil Different
Most Gemlik olive oil on the market is pressed from ripe fruit at warm temperatures for yield optimization. The result is an olive oil that tastes acceptable but shows little of what Gemlik can actually be. Our premium Gemlik olive oil takes the harder path. We use early harvest green olives, cold press at 23°C, and leave the oil unfiltered. The result is a smaller volume of a sharper, more character forward Gemlik olive oil.
